J. Eva Meharry

J. Eva Meharry is the Afghanistan Project Manager at the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training. She is also a National Geographic Explorer, Explorers Club Fellow, and a member of Meridian’s Cultural Diplomacy Leadership Council. Eva holds a PhD from the Department of Archaeology at the University of Cambridge, and her thesis, “Politics of the Past: Archaeology, Nationalism and Diplomacy in Afghanistan (1919–2001),” was awarded the Chairman’s Accolade at the 2021 International Convention of Asia Scholars Book Prize. She has worked in the field of cultural diplomacy and development in Asia and Africa for over a decade, including with fellowships and grants from the American Institute of Afghanistan Studies, British Academy, Global Heritage Fund, Hollings Center for International Dialogue; as well as with organizations, including the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, British Council, and UNESCO, among others. She publishes and speaks widely on cultural diplomacy and development.
